could be a key witness in the case of lynne spalding. the woman found dead in a stairwell at s-f general hospital. police believe he was the first person to report seeing spalding in the emergency exterior stairwell-- 17 days after she was reported missing from her hospital room. police say a man with a hospital i-d told a senior staffer about it.but then disappeared. investigators have not been able to identify him. kron-4's scott rates has more. investigators say that the man had seen some one line on the stairwell and reported it to a senior staff member at san francisco general hospital. this happening back on october 4th just before 730 in the morning. the information was reported to the san francisco sheriff's department. four days before and one small thing was reported dead. = =lynn spaulding. we reached out to a spokesperson and chief said they are happy and wider net has been cast on the investigation and she and her staff are half-

year-old balbir singh and but his wife, 45-year-old kamal singh. the couple walking their dog thursday night in menlo park. reitzell's brother made brief statement after the hearing was cancelled. prosecutors say reitzell's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. she faces two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and two felony counts of driving under the influence. a 16 year old boy will be tried as an adult for the

shooting death of an off duty paramedic in the oakland hills earlier this year. prosecutor say christian burton shot quinn boyer while he was driving on keller ave just below skyline blvd on april 2nd. boyer was in oakland to take his father to a doctor's appointment. burton told police that he and the other youths were planning to steal someone's car and cellphone that day five other boys have been charged in this case. we have vo of the accident happening now.

investigators believe the witness told the hospital that he saw the body four days before spalding was found. kron 4's will tran is live at sf general hospital with details of the search. they're hoping the person who told the hospital staff will come forward. they're also working with a staff member to see if they can come up with a composite sketch. no one

no arrests yet. in the possible elder abuse investigation at a castro valley residential care home. on saturday -- deputies says they were called in to help rescue 14 elderly patients. after most of the staff had left. that's after the facility had its license temporarily revoked by the state. there are now allegations that the family running the facility also left 'another' group of seniors at an oakland home - called eden manor. that was earlier this year. eden manor is now under new

management. but an employee says before the transition.she and six other staffers were left to care for patients for about 16 hours a day. seven days a week for more than a month.without pay.and without enough supplies. the state is trying to bar the owners of valley manor from operating or working in a california residential care facility again. their lawyer is disputing the claims that residents were not properly cared for. keeping guns out of the

hands of the mentally ill in california is proving more difficult than it should be. a recent audit found that a large number of courts across the state aren't reporting the mentally ill to state justice officials. in fact, the courts collectively failed to report at least 23-hundred

mental health determinations over a three- year period. the audit also found some courts reported incomplete information and, in some cases, took up to seven days to send that information to the justice department. auditors say state law should be changed to require reporting within 24 hours. the man accused of injuring six law enforcement officers and causing a long stand-off. was in court on tuesday. police say sammy duran shot an ice agent in the leg friday and injured five officers in roseville. near sacramento.

a local businessman is trying to make shoppers feel safer on the streets of oakland chinatown. the ceo of chinatown's metropolitan bank henry kiang has hired a private security guards to walk the beat eight hours a day seven days a week. although the crime and chinatown is mostly petty theft, of one's overall crime problem has great a sense of fear that kept customers away. so he says

>>george: welcome back to the kron4 morning else. we continue to attract a number of hot spots. the drive on interstate 80 partially recovering of where we are no longer looking at 32 minute drive times. it's been jammed up here since the 5:00 hour but westbound for and southbound 680 are very tough rides. as is 580 and 80 through downtown oakland. through the san ramon valley is heavy in both directions. still jammed of of 580 westbound as well. as san jose on 101 north bound and other morning of slow traffic through their. continuing delays of four of the lower peninsula both directions of 1013-92 of the mid peninsula has extremely heavy traffic around it's
